The Role of Teachers
We believe that Mother Earth is the greatest teacher of all, and that teachers, students and families are together in the process of lifelong learning. Our teachers fully revel in the wonders of nature along with our kiddos. What a joy and blessing it is to be alive, to learn and grow! Our teachers are facilitators to learning, as we recognize that learning is always constantly happening no matter what. Our teachers are mentors who are deeply committed to being the best role models we can be for our students. We believe the most critical part of being a teacher is doing our inner work- we are devoted to doing this work in our personal lives in order to continue to develop as humans and show up as fully as possible each day. We model gentle communication with ourselves and others, growth-mindset and positivity, curiosity, and an attitude of playfulness around learning that encourages a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
We believe that children are inherently good, magical, loving beings. We focus on building emotional literacy to help everyone recognize and communicate their feelings and needs. Teachers practice deep listening and the whole child perspective, emphasizing the value of socio-emotional wellbeing in a child’s healthy development. Teachers are highly trained to provide the container of safety, while allowing students the space to practice appropriate risk-taking. We support each child in learning how to check in with themselves and trust themselves, which helps to develop their internal guide and strengthen their sense of self. As teachers, we believe that each child holds an important gift in their heart- gifts that our planet desperately need at this time! Our job as teachers is to support the unearthing and embodiment of each child’s gift through unconditional love and encouragement. We strive to hold a sacred safe space where children can bear witness to their inherent gifts and strengths that arise spontaneously within a loving community that fully supports, embraces, and cherishes each child’s unique expression of their true nature. We want to take part in a future led by these bright empowered humans who freely and confidently share their unique and valuable gifts with the world.
